Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked ratiopharm Ulm (7-4) defeated bottom-ranked EWE Baskets (2-9) in Oldenburg 96-89 on Saturday. ratiopharm Ulm made 29-of-33 free shots (87.9 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Sindarius Thornwell (196-94, college: S.Carolina) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). His fellow American import point guard Semaj Christon (190-92, college: Xavier) accounted for 14 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Five ratiopharm Ulm players scored in double figures. Polish swingman Michal Michalak (196-93, agency: Octagon Europe) came up with 20 points and American Rickey Paulding (196-82, college: Missouri) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for EWE Baskets in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for ratiopharm Ulm.
