The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Vechta-2 as it allowed them to take a leadership position in North. Vechta-2 defeated second-ranked Aschersleben at home 76-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aschersleben. It was a key game for the top position in North. The best player for the winners was Kevin Smit (183-91) who scored 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Marshawn Blackmon (196-97, college: Newman) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Vechta-2 players scored in double figures. Vechta-2's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Nigerian forward Udun Osakue (198-92, college: SF State, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Sebastian Harke (204-81) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Vechta-2 (11-3) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Aschersleben at the other side dropped to the third place with four games lost. Aschersleben will play next round against Neustadt TSV trying to get back on the winning streak. Vechta-2 will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Rendsburg on the road.
