There was a surprise result in Denizl where fourteenth ranked Merkezefendi (4-9) defeated 4th placed Dacka (8-4) 74-69 on Saturday. They outrebounded Dacka 43-19 including a 16-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. Point guard Kalin Lucas (185-89, college: Michigan St.) stepped up and scored 26 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Jeremy Hollowell (203-94, college: Georgia St., agency: Network Sports International) chipped in 10 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side point guard Troy Caupain (193-95, college: Cincinnati, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and Wayne McCullough (195-94, college: CCU) scored 20 points. Dacka's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Merkezefendi moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Yalova. Loser Dacka keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Merkezefendi will meet bottom-ranked Socar Petkim (#16) on the road in the next round. Dacka's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Besiktas.
