Regular Season Round 14: Schwenningen - Itzehoe 91-87
Date: December 18, 2021
Not a big story in a game when 16th ranked Eagles (2-11) were defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Schwenningen (6-6) 91-87. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Strangely Eagles outrebounded Schwenningen 32-20 including 23 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Eagles were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard David Cohn (188-95, college: William & Mary) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 assists to lead the effort and the other American import swingman Raiquan Clark (198, college: LIU Brooklyn) supported him with 25 points and 5 rebounds. Five Schwenningen players scored in double figures. Even 26 points and 5 assists by Serbian-Croatian guard Petar Aranitovic (194-94, agency: BIG) did not help to save the game for Eagles. Center Yasin Kolo (208-92, college: Bellarmine) added 13 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Eagles' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Schwenningen moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Bremerhaven and Karlsruhe PS. Eagles lost eleventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the sixteenth position with 11 games lost. Schwenningen will play against higher ranked Tigers (#3) in Tuebingen in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Eagles will play at home against Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#10) and hope to get back on the winning track.
