Rather predictable result when thirteenth ranked Sibiu (4-8) won against at home bottom-ranked Miercurea Ciuc (1-11) 96-80 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Sibiu. Miercurea Ciuc managed to win third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Sibiu looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by Lithuanian Justas Tamulis (196-94) who scored that evening 26 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and international point guard Lucas Tohatan (187-99) supported him with 19 points and 5 assists. Four Sibiu players scored in double figures. Even 28 points and 8 rebounds by Serbian swingman Mihajlo Bogdanovic (197-96) did not help to save the game for Miercurea Ciuc. DR Congolese-Canadian forward Chadrack Lufile (206-90, college: Wichita St., agency: BIG) added 18 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Sibiu moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Targu Jiu and Ploiesti CSM. Miercurea Ciuc lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Sibiu will meet higher ranked Pitesti (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Miercurea Ciuc will play against Galati (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
