Regular Season Round 22: Kretinga - Silute 63-96

Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Silute (10-11) smashed on the road 11th ranked Kretinga (6-15) 96-63 on Saturday. Silute dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Kretinga's 24. Silute forced 21 Kretinga turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Kretinga's players. Tomas Balciunas (204-0) fired 21 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American guard JJ Culver (193-97, college: WBU) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Culver is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Silute players scored in double figures. Silute's coach Kestutis Macijauskas felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Domininkas Matutis (178-91) produced 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and center Rytis Zabita (200-94) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Silute moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Vytis. Newly promoted Kretinga keeps the eleventh position with 15 games lost. Silute will meet higher ranked Zalgiris II (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kretinga will play against LSU-Atletas (#6) and hope to secure a win.
