The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Zalgiris as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Zalgiris defeated 6th ranked Dzukija in Kaunas 78-70. Zalgiris looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for the former international Edgaras Ulanovas (199-92) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 7 rebounds. American power forward Tyler Cavanaugh (206-94, college: GWU) helped adding 12 points and 6 rebounds. Zalgiris' coach Jure Zdovc used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American point guard Josh Newkirk (185-94, college: Indiana) with 22 points and 4 assists and Serbian Aleksandar Aranitovic (195-98) scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Zalgiris have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Dzukija at the other side dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. Dzukija will play next round against Neptunas trying to get back on the winning streak. Zalgiris will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Juventus in Utena.
