Important game to mention about took place in Heidelberg. Seventh ranked ALBA Berlin (7-4) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 13th ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (4-8) 83-81 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. ALBA Berlin made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Maodo Lo (191-92, college: Columbia) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. American center Ben Lammers (208-95, college: Georgia Tech) helped adding 14 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Five ALBA Berlin players scored in double figures. American guard Robert Lowery (188-87, college: Dayton) responded with 19 points and 7 assists and the other American import power forward Brekkott Chapman (206-96, college: Weber St.) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. MLP Academics Heidelberg lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the fourteenth position with eight games lost. ALBA Berlin will play against Crailsheim Merlins (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. MLP Academics Heidelberg will have a break next round.
