Regular Season Round 12: Targu Mures - Agronomia 81-67

Very expected game when 9th ranked Agronomia (3-8) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Targu Mures (7-4) 81-67. The game was mostly controlled by Targu Mures. Agronomia was better in second period 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Agronomia 47-26 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Targu Mures players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. The winners were led by American forward DaLishia Griffin (188-95, college: JMU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points, 20 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import power forward Ruth Sherrill (183-94, college: Temple) supported her with 28 points and 18 rebounds. Griffin is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds by forward Laura Vaida (190-1, college: UMass Lowell) did not help to save the game for Agronomia. Point guard Mihaela Panait (169-5) added 17 points and 4 assists. Four Agronomia players scored in double figures. Agronomia's coach rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Targu Mures maintains fifth position with 7-4 record. Agronomia at the other side keeps the ninth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Targoviste. Targu Mures will play against higher ranked Sf.Gheorghe (#3) in Sfantu Gheorghe in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Agronomia will play against Botosani (#13) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
