Regular Season Round 10: Zalgiris I - RasKKSC 85-88

A very close game took place in Kaunas between RasKKSC and Zalgiris I. Tenth ranked RasKKSC (3-7) got a very close victory on the road over 12th ranked Zalgiris I (1-8). RasKKSC managed to escape with a 3-point win 88-85 on Thursday evening. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 21-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. RasKKSC forced 23 Zalgiris I turnovers. Swingman Nojus Vaivada (192-4) had a triple-double by scoring 28 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Milvydas Nazimovas (182-4) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four RasKKSC players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Arunas Rimkus (193-4) responded with 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and forward Kajus Kaneckas (196-4) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. Zalgiris I's coach Donatas Velicka tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. RasKKSC moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Saule. Zalgiris I lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. RasKKSC will meet at home higher ranked VKM (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Zalgiris I will play against the league's leader VKKM (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
