The biggest surprise took place in Karlsruhe where host Lions (8-6) edged league's leader Seawolves (12-3) 87-86 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Seawolves. Lions made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Seawolves helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Stanley Whittaker (183-94, college: Keiser) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 assists for the winners. Forward Leo Behrend (199-96, college: Ave Maria) chipped in 18 points. Swingman Nijal Pearson (196-97, college: Texas St.) produced 17 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Chris Carter (193-92, college: Florida Tech) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for lost side. Five Lions and four Seawolves players scored in double figures. Seawolves' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Lions have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 8-6 record. Seawolves at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Jena. Seawolves will play next round against strong Kirchheim Knights trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Lions will try to continue on its current victory against fifteenth ranked Artland Dragons in Quakenbrueck.
