There was no surprise when 17th ranked 46ers (3-10) were crushed on the road by sixth ranked Hamburg Towers (8-4) 104-82 on Sunday. Hamburg Towers forced 21 46ers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by 46ers' players. Forward Robin Christen (202-91) stepped up and scored 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and American swingman Caleb Homesley (198-96, college: Liberty) chipped in 18 points and 6 assists. At the losing side Florian Koch (197-92) responded with 18 points and American guard Kendale McCullum (194-96, college: Lewis, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Four 46ers players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hamburg Towers moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. 46ers lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the sixteenth position with ten games lost. They share it with Frankfurt. Hamburg Towers will meet league's second-placed Bayern Muenchen on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. 46ers will play against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#9) and hope to secure a win.
