There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Balikesir (5-8) edged on the road higher ranked Fethiye (5-8) 97-95 on Sunday. They outrebounded Fethiye 46-34 including 33 on the defensive glass. Balikesir looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Carlton Bragg Jr (208-95, college: N.Mexico) nailed a double-double by scoring 23 points and 22 rebounds for the winning side and the former international point guard Safak Edge (188-92, agency: BeoBasket) accounted for 16 points and 6 assists. Five Balikesir players scored in double figures. American forward Will Daniels (202-86, college: URI) came up with 30 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import point guard Antino Jackson (182-96, college: N.Mexico, agency: BIG) added 23 points and 7 assists respectively for Fethiye in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Balikesir moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Fethiye. Balikesir will meet at home higher ranked Manisa (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fethiye will play against Konyaspor and hope to secure a win.
