Ninth-ranked Nevezis (3-9) made lots of trouble for third ranked Lietkabelis (9-5) in Kedainiai. The visitors from Panevezys managed to secure only one-point victory 78-77. However their fans expected much easier game. Lietkabelis made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Lietkabelis outrebounded Nevezis 37-25 including a 14-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian center Djordje Gagic (210-90, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Vytenis Lipkevicius (195-89) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Lietkabelis' coach Nenad Canak allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Latvian Rihards Kuksiks (201-88, college: Arizona St.) replied with 24 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and guard Marius Valinskas (187-99) added 15 points and 7 assists in the effort for Nevezis. Lietkabelis maintains third position with 9-5 record having four points less than leader Zalgiris. Nevezis at the other side keeps the ninth place with nine games lost. Lietkabelis will play against Jonava (#6) at home in the next round. Nevezis will play against the league's leader Zalgiris and hopes to get back on the winning track.
