The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Telekom Baskets (12-3) on the court of sixth ranked Crailsheim Merlins on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Crailsheim Merlins 81-76. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Telekom Baskets. Crailsheim Merlins made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. Strangely Telekom Baskets outrebounded Crailsheim Merlins 38-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American point guard TJ Shorts (175-97, college: UC Davis) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 7 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). International Fabian Bleck (197-93) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Shorts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright (176-95, college: Arizona) answered with 13 points and 9 assists and international forward Michael Kessens (206-91, college: FIU) added 14 points in the effort for Telekom Baskets. Crailsheim Merlins have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Telekom Baskets at the other side still keep top position with three games lost. Crailsheim Merlins are looking forward to face MLP Academics Heidelberg (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Telekom Baskets will play against Hamburg Towers (#9) and are hoping to win this game.
