Regular Season Round 13: Focsani - Cluj Napoca 72-98

Undefeated leader Cluj Napoca delivered the twelfth consecutive victory. This time they crushed 9th ranked Focsani (5-8) 98-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Focsani. The game was mostly controlled by Cluj Napoca. Focsani was better in fourth quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cluj Napoca shot 63.3 percent from the field. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Elijah Stewart (196-95, college: USC) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import center Dustin Hogue (198-92, college: Iowa St.) contributed with 15 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winners. Serbian Pavle Reljic (193-93) answered with 22 points and 5 assists and Russian-Belarusian forward Aliaksandr Pustahvar (201-85) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Focsani. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cluj Napoca (12-0) have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 12 victories in a row. Focsani at the other side keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Cluj Napoca will play against Ploiesti CSM (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Focsani will play against Sibiu and hopes to get back on the winning track.
