There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Brose Bamberg (7-9) defeated on the road 9th ranked Hamburg Towers (9-6) 87-75 on Wednesday. The winners were led by American Omar Prewitt (201-94, college: William & Mary) who scored that evening 19 points and 5 rebounds and Panamanian-American center Akil Mitchell (206-92, college: Virginia) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Even 27 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists by American swingman Caleb Homesley (198-96, college: Liberty) did not help to save the game for Hamburg Towers. His fellow American import Seth Hinrichs (200-93, college: Lafayette) added 15 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Brose Bamberg moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Hamburg Towers keep the ninth position with six games lost. Brose Bamberg will meet higher ranked Hakro Merlins (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hamburg Towers will play against MBC and hope to secure a win.
