An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Lisbona. Third ranked Sporting faced their close opponent Benfica. Guests from Lisbon (12-2) defeated host Benfica (12-2) 74-63. Sporting forced 19 Benfica turnovers and outrebounded them 49-37 including 35 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Diogo Ventura (193-94) who scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Travante Williams (197-93, college: Alaska, agency: Duran International) chipped in 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Tunisian Makram Ben Romdhane (205-89) who recorded 4 points and 14 rebounds and American Frank Gaines (191-90, college: PFW) added 17 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Benfica. Sporting will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Benfica will play again on the road against the league's second-placed Sporting in Lisbon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
