Regular Season Round 11: Blackbirds - Lions 66-49

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Jennersdorf. Third ranked Blackbirds faced second-ranked Lions. Host Blackbirds (8-2) defeated guests from Dornbirn (6-5) 66-49. The game was mostly controlled by Blackbirds. Lions managed to win second period 21-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Lions to just 7 points in first quarter. Blackbirds forced 24 Lions turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Sebastian Koch (201-88) who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Bernhard Koch (190-91) chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Greek guard Panagiotis Zaraidonis (193-95, college: LeMoyne) produced 9 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals and Swedish center Hampus Ramstedt (202-99) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Blackbirds have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Nord Dragonz. Lions at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. They share it with Mustangs. Blackbirds is looking forward to face league's leader Furstenfeld Panthers on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lions will play against BBU and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
