Regular Season Round 15: Wusterhausen - Bergedorf 65-74

There was a surprise result in Wildau where fourteenth ranked Bergedorf (4-11) defeated higher ranked WSG Koenigs (6-8) 74-65 on Saturday. Bergedorf forced 24 WSG Koenigs turnovers. Strangely WSG Koenigs outrebounded Bergedorf 40-26 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Croatian Matej Jelovcic (185-98) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 9 rebounds. Aleksandar Postic (195-0) helped adding 28 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was center Oliver Mackeldanz (211-90) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and American Andrew Jones (191-83, college: Miles) scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Four WSG Koenigs players scored in double figures. WSG Koenigs' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bergedorf moved-up to thirteenth place in North, which they share with Braunschweig. Loser WSG Koenigs dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. Bergedorf will meet at home higher ranked Cuxhaven (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. WSG Koenigs will play against Vechta-2 where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
