Regular Season Round 11: Sanjoanense - Electrico FC 66-82

The biggest surprise of round 11 was guest Electrico FC's (3-8) easy road victory over 7th ranked Sanjoanense (2-9) 82-66 on Saturday evening. Electrico FC dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Sanjoanense's 22. Electrico FC forced 21 Sanjoanense turnovers. The best player for the winners was swingman Joao Lanzinha (190-89) who scored 30 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Center Antonio Mendes (203-88) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds. American forward Jason Watts II (201-96, college: Lambton) produced a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds and point guard Filipe Ferreira (180-96) added 13 points respectively for the hosts. Electrico FC moved-up to seventh place. Sanjoanense lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Electrico FC are looking forward to face higher ranked Sampaense (#6) in Coimbra in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sanjoanense will play against Galomar and is hoping to win this game.
