There was an upset when higher ranked Cuxhaven (6-7) was defeated at home by thirteenth ranked Wolfenbuettel (4-9) 80-70 on Saturday. Wolfenbuettel forced 21 Cuxhaven turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for naturalized American point guard Anish Sharda (187-82, college: St.Mary's, KS) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Forward Oliver Hahn (198-88) helped adding 8 points and 9 rebounds. Wolfenbuettel's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American forward Desmond Ringer (206-94, college: Mercer) with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and Dutch Nene Kiameso (199-97) scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Wolfenbuettel moved-up to twelfth place in North. Loser Cuxhaven dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. Wolfenbuettel will meet at home league's leader Westerstede in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cuxhaven will play against Bergedorf (#14) in Hamburg and hope to secure a win.
