Very important is a road loss of second ranked KOS (6-5) against fifth ranked Worthersee Piraten (6-6) on Saturday night. Visiting KOS was defeated by Worthersee Piraten in a tough game in Klagenfurt 71-77. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-14. But KOS won third quarter 27-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Worthersee Piraten won last quarter 19-15. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Worthersee Piraten made 7 blocks. The winners were led by American forward Shawn Ray (194-80, college: NCCU) who scored that evening 30 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Slovenian Jure Bavdek (-97) supported him with 12 points and 5 assists. Worthersee Piraten's coach Aaron Mitchell used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 14 points and 5 assists by Slovenian point guard Grega Sajevic (189-96) did not help to save the game for KOS. Slovenian forward Erik Groznik (201-0) added 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four KOS players scored in double figures. Worthersee Piraten moved-up to fourth place. KOS lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with five games lost. They share it with Lions. Worthersee Piraten will meet league's leader Raiders Tirol in the next round and it may be the game of the week. KOS will play against the league's second-placed Lions and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
