Regular Season Round 16: Bonn - Hamburg 80-92
Date: January 9, 2022
The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Telekom Baskets (12-4) in Bonn on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by ninth ranked Hamburg Towers (9-6) 92-80. Hamburg Towers had a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Telekom Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Caleb Homesley (198-96, college: Liberty) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!) and 5 assists. The other American import Seth Hinrichs (200-93, college: Lafayette) contributed with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Hamburg Towers' coach Pedro Calles used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Jeremy Morgan (196-95, college: UNI) replied with 18 points and international forward Michael Kessens (206-91, college: FIU) added 17 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) in the effort for Telekom Baskets. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hamburg Towers maintains ninth position with 9-6 record. Telekom Baskets at the other side still keep top place with four games lost. Hamburg Towers are looking forward to face MBC (#15) in Weissenfels in the next round where they are favorite. Telekom Baskets will play on the road against the league's second-placed Bayern Muenchen (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
