Very expected game when 14th ranked Galati (3-11) lost at home to fourth ranked Pitesti (10-4) 85-81. The guests were already 15 points ahead at halftime and as many as 22 after three quarters before a 37-19 last quarter charge of Galati cut the lead to 85-81 at the end of the game. Pitesti shot 60.8 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Pitesti especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American forward Raynere Thornton (201-97, college: Memphis, agency: 011 Sports) scored 24 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Finnish point guard Ilari Seppala (188-93, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in 11 points and 8 assists during the contest. Pitesti will play against Rapid (#14) in Bucuresti in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Galati will play on the road against Focsani and hopes to get back on the winning track.
