Important game to mention about took place in Chemnitz. Sixth ranked Chemnitz (11-5) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 4th placed BG Goettingen (10-6) 87-86 on Wednesday evening. It was a great shooting night for Chemnitz especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American forward Darion Atkins (203-92, college: Virginia) nailed 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winning side and American-Haitian guard Frantz Massenat (193-92, college: Drexel) accounted for 7 points and 7 assists. Four Chemnitz players scored in double figures. Chemnitz's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Kamar Baldwin (185-97, college: Butler) came up with 35 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Akeem Vargas (192-90, college: Iowa Lakes) added 8 points and 4 assists respectively for BG Goettingen in the defeat. Chemnitz have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Ulm. BG Goettingen at the other side dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Crailsheim and Hamburg. Chemnitz will play against ratiopharm Ulm (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. BG Goettingen will play against MBC (#15) in Weissenfels and hopes to get back on the winning track.
