Regular Season Round 25: Zalgiris II - LSU-Atletas 62-80

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kaunas: LSU-Atletas (#5) and Zalgiris II (#4). Zalgiris II was crushed at home by 18 points 62-80 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. LSU-Atletas made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The former international Martynas Linkevicius (197-85, agency: BIG) stepped up and scored 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and point guard Karolis Babkauskas (185-91, agency: BIG) chipped in 16 points. At the losing side center Motiejus Krivas (213-4) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Liutauras Lelevicius (201-3) scored 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Zalgiris II's coach Vytautas Pliauga rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. LSU-Atletas have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted LSU-Atletas maintains fifth place with 14-11 record. Zalgiris II at the other side keeps the fourth position with ten games lost. LSU-Atletas are looking forward to face Mazeikiai (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Zalgiris II will play against Gargzdu (#3) in Gargzdai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
