Regular Season Round 8: Iasi - Craiova 2 54-103

Craiova 2 has finally registered their first victory this season after six consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Iasi, where they outplayed Iasi (0-6) 103-54. The game was mostly controlled by Craiova 2. Iasi was better in third quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Craiova 2 forced 25 Iasi turnovers. The winners were led by forward Iulian Corneanu (197-89) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 7 assists and Luca Manda (-3) supported him with 25 points. Five Craiova 2 players scored in double figures. Even 13 points and 5 rebounds by Moldovan Stefan Florea (200-3) did not help to save the game for Iasi. Horia Dragoslav (-2) added 10 points and 4 assists for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. Craiova 2 (1-6) left bottom position moving up to eighth place. It was Iasi's sixth loss in a row. Iasi at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with six games lost. Craiova 2 will play against Bucuresti E. (#9) on the road in the next round. Iasi will play against Oradea 2 and hopes to get finally their first victory.
