There was no surprise in Coimbra where 12th ranked Academica (2-15) was defeated by ninth ranked Ovarense (4-9) 91-87. It was a great shooting night for Ovarense especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Brandon Anderson (185-97, college: Brown) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Serbian power forward Nikola Tadic (206-88) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Ovarense's coach Joao Tiago allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Serbian guard Filip Simic (185-90) replied with 20 points and 8 assists and American J.D. Weatherspoon (198-92, college: Toledo) added 16 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Academica. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Ovarense maintains ninth position with 4-9 record. Academica lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 15 games lost. Ovarense will play against higher ranked Imortal (#7) in Albufeira in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Academica will have a break next round.
