Everything could happen in Mersin at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Uludag and 11th ranked Tarsus had identical 6-10 record. But Tarsus was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Istanbul 78-71 on Saturday night. Uludag looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Naturalized Swedish guard Meryem Gultekin (166-90) stepped up and scored 21 points and 6 assists for the winners and American center Tearra Banks (188-95, college: Austin Peay) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Uludag's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center Sharon Houston (191-88, college: IU Northwest) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 18 rebounds and guard Cansu Yetis (168-93) scored 14 points and 8 assists. Uludag (7-10) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Fenerbahce G. and Cesme. Tarsus lost their third game in a row. Tarsus at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Urla and Antalya. Uludag will meet at home Urla (#12) in the next round. Tarsus will play against Antalya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
