Regular Season Round 17: Turk Telekom - Afyon 135-85

Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Afyon Bld (3-14) was outscored by twelfth ranked Turk Telekom (6-11) in Ankara 135-85 on Sunday. Turk Telekom dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Afyon Bld's 30. They outrebounded Afyon Bld 41-25 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Turk Telekom shot the lights out from three sinking 20 long-distance shots on high 51.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 37 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Afyon Bld's players. American swingman Aubrey Dawkins (198-95, college: UCF, agency: Network Sports International) nailed 25 points and 4 steals for the winning side and Gani Erdi Gulaslan (202-94) accounted for 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. Turk Telekom's coach Burak Goren felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Huseyin Cevirgen (187-0) came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Bilgehan Diril (189-1) added 28 points and 9 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) respectively for Afyon Bld in the defeat. Turk Telekom moved-up to eleventh place. Afyon Bld lost their tenth game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with 14 games lost. Turk Telekom will meet at home Buyukcekmece (#14) in the next round. Afyon Bld will play against Yalova and hope to secure a win.
