Regular Season Round 14: Izmit - Ormanspor 65-86

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Ormanspor (11-3) outplayed 12th ranked Izmit (4-10) in Kocaeli 86-65 on Sunday. Ormanspor dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Izmit's 24. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American center Teaira McCowan (201-96, college: MSU) notched a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import point guard Danielle Robinson (178-89, college: Oklahoma) supported her with 20 points and 6 assists. Four Ormanspor players scored in double figures. Even 15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists by Canadian guard Nirra Fields (175-93, college: UCLA, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for Izmit. Point guard Melisa Korkmaz (172-97) added 18 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Izmit's coach Firat Okul gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Ormanspor moved-up to second place. Izmit lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with ten games lost. Ormanspor will meet league's leader Fenerbahce in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Izmit will play against Besiktas (#10) in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
