Regular Season Round 12: LSU-Kaunas - Akmenes P. 86-46

Bottom-ranked Akmenes P. (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 86-46 loss to third ranked LSU-Kaunas (8-1) in Kaunas on Friday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. LSU-Kaunas forced 25 Akmenes P. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Akmenes P.'s players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Ieva Stankeviciute (176-89) who helped to win the game recording 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and guard Indre Balciunaite (170-0) who added 14 points and 6 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Ugne Birontaite (182-4) with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 17 rebounds and swingman Ruta Silinyte (173-93) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. LSU-Kaunas have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Vilniaus Svaja. Newly promoted Akmenes P. still closes the standings with ten games lost. LSU-Kaunas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Akmenes P. will play against Vilniaus univ. (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
