There was no surprise when 11th ranked Rapid Bucuresti (2-12) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Targu Secuiesc (5-6) 67-59 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-13. But Rapid Bucuresti won second period 15-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Antoinette Lewis (185-99, college: USA) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 20 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Jaiamoni Welch-Coleman (165-97, college: Weber St.) who added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Welch-Coleman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. At the losing side the former international guard Florina Stanici-Diaconu (170-82) responded with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and the former international Sonia-Alexandra Cazacu (183-1) scored 12 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Targu Secuiesc moved-up to seventh place. Rapid Bucuresti lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Brasov. Targu Secuiesc will meet league's leader Arad on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Rapid Bucuresti will play against Cluj Napoca (#8) and hope to secure a win.
