Regular Season Round 18: Botas GA - Edremit 71-68

Fourth-ranked Edremit (12-5) was very close to win a game against second ranked Botas GA (16-2) in Ankara. Botas GA managed to secure only three-point victory 71-68. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Edremit. Botas GA forced 23 Edremit turnovers. Strangely Edremit outrebounded Botas GA 41-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. Edremit was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Ukrainian center Olena Stashchuk (192-85) had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Saliha Mandiraci (169-2) chipped in 16 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Mikayla Cowling (188-96, college: California, agency: LBM Management) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds and Yagmur Ozturk (-98) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Botas GA have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 16-2 record having just two points less than leader Emlak. Newly promoted Edremit keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Botas GA will play against Bodrum (#15) in Mugla in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Edremit will play at home against Yalova Vip (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
