Regular Season Round 12: Wuerzburg Ak. - Heidelberg 60-70

Very significant was Heidelberg's (#2) 70-60 road victory against one of their biggest challengers Akademie in West. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Akademie. Heidelberg dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Akademie's 22. Heidelberg forced 23 Akademie turnovers. Akademie was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by Linus Ihle (197-4) who scored that evening 31 points and 9 rebounds and Dennis Diala (195-3) supported him with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Heidelberg's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 38 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) by Dutch Yulian Ramirez (205-3) did not help to save the game for Akademie. Elijah Ndi (194-4) added 7 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Heidelberg maintains second position in West with 6-3 record having just three points less than leader ALBA Berlin. Akademie at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
