There was no surprise in Denizl where 9th ranked Merkezefendi (2-12) was defeated by fourth ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (9-6) 88-78 on Sunday. Pinar Karsiyaka forced 21 Merkezefendi turnovers and outrebounded them 50-37 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Demircan Demir (-4) who scored 28 points and 7 assists. Hamdi Pelivan (-2) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Basar Adak (-3) who recorded 20 points and 7 rebounds and forward Atahan Altiok (198-4) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pinar Karsiyaka maintains fourth place in League with 9-6 record. Newly promoted Merkezefendi keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. Pinar Karsiyaka will meet at home league's second-placed Besiktas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Merkezefendi will play against TED Ankara (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
