Regular Season Round 9: Bucuresti U. - Brasov 72-70 OT

Bucuresti U. can celebrate finally their first win this season after seven consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Brasov (0-8) 72-70. It looked good early as Brasov took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Bucuresti U. took control and eventually winning the game that evening in overtime by 2 points. They also forced 22 Brasov turnovers. Strangely Brasov outrebounded Bucuresti U. 51-35 including 18 on the offensive glass. Brasov was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Armin Macarie (-2) who led his team to a victory with 18 points. Guard Robert Jarcalau (173-1) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Forward Sergiu Souca (200-86) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Ovidiu Stochici (182-95) added 23 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Brasov. Bucuresti U. (1-7) left bottom position moving up to ninth place. It was Brasov's eighth loss in a row. Brasov at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with eight games lost. Bucuresti U. will play against higher ranked Craiova 2 (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Brasov will play against Bucuresti E. (#10) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
