Regular Season Round 21: Ararat - Erebuni 98-99

Sixth-ranked Ararat (7-12) made lots of trouble for second ranked Erebuni (15-3) in Yerevan on Thursday. The visitors managed to secure only one-point victory 99-98. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Ararat won third quarter 29-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Erebuni forced 19 Ararat turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Omega Harris (190-95, college: UTEP) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals. His fellow American import Robert Hobson (197-96, college: JWU, NC, agency: ASEC) chipped in 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Hobson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was Canadian point guard Sean Stoqua (180) who recorded 42 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and Vardan Bidrossian (193-83) added 24 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Five Erebuni and four Ararat players scored in double figures. Erebuni maintains second place with 15-3 record having five points less than leader Urartu. Ararat lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost.
