Regular Season Round 20: Lietkabelis - Rytas 83-80

The most exciting game of round 20 in the LKL took place in Panevezys. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Rytas (15-3) to third ranked Lietkabelis (13-5) 83-80 on Saturday evening. Serbian center Djordje Gagic (210-90, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Gediminas Orelik (199-90) contributed with 17 points and 7 assists for the winners. Five Lietkabelis players scored in double figures. Lietkabelis' coach Nenad Canak used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Kenneth Smith (190-93, college: Louisiana Tech) replied with 21 points and 6 assists and international Arnas Butkevicius (197-92) added 15 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) in the effort for Rytas. Lietkabelis have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-5 record having six points less than leader Zalgiris. Rytas at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. Lietkabelis are looking forward to face Siauliai (#4) at home in the next round. Rytas will play against Juventus in Utena and is hoping to win this game.
