Regular Season Round 19: Petkim - Tofas 83-91

There was no surprise when 15th ranked Socar Petkim (3-16) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Tofas (12-7) 91-83 on Saturday. Tofas made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for international point guard Berk Ugurlu (192-96) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 6 assists. Canadian point guard Tyler Ennis (188-94, college: Syracuse) helped adding 15 points and 5 assists. At the losing side American center Malcolm Thomas (206-88, college: SDSU, agency: Slash Sports) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the other American import Sean Armand (193-91, college: Iona, agency: Slash Sports) scored 20 points and 9 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Five Tofas and four Socar Petkim players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Tofas have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Galatasaray. Socar Petkim lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 16 games lost. They share it with Afyon. Tofas will meet at home Acibadem (#8) in the next round. Socar Petkim will play against Turk Telekom (#11) in Ankara and hope to secure a win.
