Top ranked Raiders Tirol (9-3) recorded its third loss in Dornbirn. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Lions (7-5) 83-74. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-17. But Raiders Tirol won second period 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Lions won last quarter 27-20. Strangely Raiders Tirol outrebounded Lions 48-36 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Raiders Tirol was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Greek guard Panagiotis Zaraidonis (193-95, college: LeMoyne) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Greek guard Christos Bratsiakos (195-1) contributed with 17 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Lions players scored in double figures. Swedish-German forward Uros Cigoja (198-98) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists and Slovenian guard Ziga Habat (193-97, college: Highland, IL) added 20 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Raiders Tirol. Raiders Tirol's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lions moved-up to second place, which they share with Mustangs. Raiders Tirol at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Lions will play against Rocks (#4) in Mattersburg in the next round. Raiders Tirol will play at home against the league's second-placed Furstenfeld Panthers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
