Regular Season Round 16: Mersin - Cankaya 86-72

Very predictable result when fifth ranked Mersin (11-4) beat at home 10th ranked Cankaya (5-10) 86-72. Mersin dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Cankaya's 30. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a very good performance for American guard Tiffany Hayes (177-89, college: UConn) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international center Quanitra Hollingsworth (196-88, college: VCU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. Mersin's coach Osman Orak used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Latvian point guard Elina Dikaioulaku (173-89) replied with 24 points and American point guard Tan White (170-82, college: MSU) added 13 points and 7 assists in the effort for Cankaya. Mersin moved-up to fourth place. Cankaya lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with ten games lost. Mersin will play against Galatasaray (#7) in Istanbul in the next round. Cankaya will play at home against Antalya 07 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
