There was no surprise when 11th ranked Balikesir (6-11) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Mamak (11-6) 86-77 on Saturday. Mamak looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American point guard Marlain Veal (175-96, college: SE Louisiana) scored 29 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center Chance Comanche (211-96, college: Arizona) chipped in 23 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona) with 23 points and 8 assists and the former international Umit Sonkol (206-82) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Balikesir's coach Ali Uruk let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Mamak moved-up to fifth place, which they share with OGM Orman. Loser Balikesir keeps the eleventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with TED Ankara and Final Spor. Mamak will meet at home higher ranked Konyaspor (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Balikesir will play against Samsun (#3) and hope to secure a win.
