No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Alexandria (11-4) beat at home 10th ranked Agronomia (3-11) 49-33 on Saturday. The game without a history. Alexandria led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Agronomia to just 1 points in fourth quarter and to 9 points in second half. Alexandria held Agronomia to an opponent 21.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 28.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Mexican center Myriam Lara (186-94) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Alexis Pana (175-98, college: CWU) accounted for 9 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Worth to mention Pana played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. The former international forward Anca Sipos (185-85) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and Claudia Cristea (180-0) added 7 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Agronomia in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Alexandria. They maintain fourth place with 11-4 record. Agronomia lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 11 games lost. Alexandria will meet higher ranked Sf.Gheorghe (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Agronomia will play against Rapid Bucuresti (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
