There was a small surprise in Wuerzburg where Young Tigers outscored Akademie 87-62 on Sunday. Young Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Akademie's 34. Young Tigers forced 19 Akademie turnovers and outrebounded them 58-34 including a 38-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. Camill Palacioglu (182-3) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and point guard David Scheu (185-3) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds. Four Young Tigers players scored in double figures. Young Tigers' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side David Gerhard (197-4) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and Elijah Ndi (194-4) scored 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Young Tigers will meet at home Bonn/Rh. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Akademie will play against Crailsheim and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
