Regular Season Round 19: Gaziantep - Besiktas 82-77
Date: January 30, 2022
No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Gaziantep (13-6) defeated at home 10th ranked Besiktas (9-9) 82-77 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It was a great evening for American point guard QJ Peterson (183-94, college: VMI) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import Jarmar Gulley (196-91, college: Missouri St.) helped adding 19 points. At the losing side the former international guard Kenan Sipahi (197-95, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 17 points, 9 assists and 4 steals and American forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (201-95, college: Arizona) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Besiktas' coach Ahmet Kandemir tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Gaziantep have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Darussafaka. Loser Besiktas dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. Gaziantep will meet Pinar Karsiyaka (#5) in the next round. Besiktas will play against Yalova (#12) and hope to secure a win.
