This time Yalova used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Denizl 82-76 on Sunday night. It was a great evening for the former international Ilkan Karaman (205-90, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. American point guard Lamont Jones (183-90, college: Iona) helped adding 19 points and 4 assists. Yalova's coach Hakan Yavuz used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side Latvian Rihards Lomazs (190-96) responded with 22 points and 4 assists and American point guard Kalin Lucas (185-89, college: Michigan St.) scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Newly promoted Yalova maintains twelfth place with 6-12 record. Merkezefendi lost fourth consecutive game. Merkezefendi at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Yalova will meet higher ranked Besiktas (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Merkezefendi will play against Afyon Bld (#15) in Afyonkarahisar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
