Regular Season Round 22: FIMA 94 Elite - Erebuni 86-152

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Yerevan: Erebuni (#2) and FIMA 94 Elite (#8). FIMA 94 Elite was smashed at home by 66 points 86-152 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game without a history. Erebuni led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 116 of its points in the paint compared to FIMA 94 Elite's 66. Erebuni forced 21 FIMA 94 Elite turnovers and outrebounded them 58-40 including a 42-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Erebuni players were unselfish on offense dishing 45 assists comparing to just 20 passes made by FIMA 94 Elite's players. American players dominated the game. Swingman Edwin Cole (203, college: Frostburg St.) had a triple-double by scoring 44 points (!!!), 21 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 blocks (on 20-of-24 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Robert Hobson (197-96, college: JWU, NC, agency: ASEC) chipped in 43 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Worth to mention Hobson played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. At the losing side point guard Brandon Hill (187-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Kalen Lipsey (188-90) scored 13 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Erebuni and four FIMA 94 Elite players scored in double figures. Erebuni have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 17-3 record behind leader Urartu. FIMA 94 Elite lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 20 lost games. Erebuni's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Yerevan to the arena AIA Yerevan.
