Not a big story in a game in Istanbul where 15th ranked Socar Petkim (3-16) was outplayed by tenth ranked Besiktas (9-9) 94-73 on Wednesday. Besiktas dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Socar Petkim's 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Socar Petkim's players. It was a great evening for American forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (201-95, college: Arizona) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 4 steals (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). His fellow American import power forward Dedric Lawson (206-97, college: Kansas) helped adding 10 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Besiktas players scored in double figures. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican point guard Gary Browne (185-93, college: WVU) responded with 17 points and 7 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and American Sean Armand (193-91, college: Iona, agency: Slash Sports) scored 14 points and 6 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Besiktas moved-up to ninth place. Socar Petkim lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 16 games lost. They share it with Afyon. Besiktas will meet at home Yalova (#12) in the next round. Socar Petkim will play against Turk Telekom (#11) in Ankara and hope to secure a win.
